3. The Public Is Not Allowed to Give Money Gifts to the Royals

Exception: donations to charities
While receiving gifts from the public is not unusual for prominent personalities, the royal family is exempt from this regulation and is not allowed to accept cash gifts from the general public. In order to protect the royal family from any accusations of improper behavior or influence, this rule was put in place.

It has to do with keeping the monarchy intact. They are able to receive donations made to their charities, nevertheless, because they are used for charitable purposes rather than for their own benefit.
