There is more to being a royal than merely living in mansions and going to fancy parties. Serving the public and performing charitable activities are major facets of their business. Numerous charitable organizations have the British royal family as close allies, and these groups can greatly benefit from the royal family's support.

These public service obligations and charitable endeavors, such as hospital visits, aiding veterans of the armed forces, and raising awareness of mental health issues, are essential to their position as public servants. A royal may, however, be temporarily released from these responsibilities due to ill health or youth.
